THE PORTOBELLO

Full turnkey of the living, dining, hall, stairs and landing areas, built around a client with a love of natural materials and earthy boldness.

Location: Portobello, Dublin

The brief began with a living and dining room design that grew into a full design and turnkey commission for the highest traffic areas in the client’s home - the open-plan living-dining plus the hall, stairs and landing spanning three levels.

The existing layout was reworked to give each area a defined purpose while keeping the flow open and generous. New wood flooring was run through the spaces to create continuity, so the home feels as one resolved scheme rather than a set of separate decisions. Bespoke joinery anchors the living area. Designed and built to measure, it delivers concealed storage, showcases the client’s book collection and additional seating for entertaining without crowding the floorplan. Full lighting and electrical include layered lighting in the joinery, ceiling pendant repositioned, additional ceiling pendant, new walls lights, upgraded switches and sockets. Furniture selected to match the client's character and maximise the footprint. A round, extendable dining table facilitates the everyday with the flexibility to comfortably entertain guests. New window treatments and a transformative palette deliver the boldness the brief called for: a home that performs as well as it presents, built for daily living and entertaining, and conceived as a long-term investment.
