The clients’ brief for their self-build home with clean-lined architecture was Scandinavian calm with confident pops of colour - not clinical or traditional. We were engaged across eight full areas, alongside finishing details in other areas including carpets.

The first five areas are complete; the entry, open plan kitchen-dining-living, landing and two children's bedrooms. The remaining three are in progress, delivered in phases to suit the clients' timeline.

In the entry, Kilkenny limestone carried in from the exterior is softened by a curved oak console and textured artwork. In the open-plan kitchen-dining-living, rust and copper tones ground the living area, sheer curtains soften the natural light, and lighter woods in the dining area give the eye a rest between living and kitchen. The kitchen is by Colin Maher Design — our input was the rattan pendants and birch stools, chosen to add texture against cabinetry in Farrow & Ball's 'Preference Red'.

Upstairs, the girls' bedrooms are layered in tonal shades they will not outgrow.

The result is a home that reads as calm and characterful at the same time.
